Norman est né en 1922 dans le New Hampshire, il a rejoint le 331st infantry regiment de la 83rd infantry division. Il a combattu en Normandie (Carentan,   St Malo, St Lo) et à reçu la silver star pour acté héroique au combat. Le régiment combattera férocement lors de la bataille de Huertgen (octobre 1944) et sera envoyé en repos à Haversin. Lorsque la bataille des ardennes éclate, la division effectue une contre offensive sur Rochefort (combat contre la 2nd panzer SS) puis pousse son avancée sur Gouvy-Beho. Norman sera blessé au combat en Ardennes mais pourra terminer la guerre avec son régiment en Allemagne. Les plaques ont été retrouvées en fouille près de Bastogne (endroit ou la 83rd se "reposait"), l'ensemble des documents ont été donnés par Norman Neily avant son décès en 2007

In the battle of the bulge, the division was near Rochefort and made an offensive attack against the 2nd panzer SS. He continued the fight near Gouvy-Beho. Norman obtained a purple heart in the bulge. He was in Germany in the end of war with his regiment. The dog tag have been found near Bastogne (he regiment was in rest there). All the papers come from Norman Neily before his death on 2007
